// 𝙒𝙏𝙁 𝙄𝙎 𝘼 𝙋𝙀𝘼𝘽𝙀𝙍𝙍𝙔 // We recently dropped two new coffees, both of which are peaberries—which begs the question; WTF IS A PEABERRY? This unique bean is the result of a naturally occurring mutation that happens inside a coffee cherry, generally home to two seeds or "beans", where one ovule fails to pollinate - the result is extra space for the single developing seed which allows the seed to grow larger & more round. This mutation occurs in various varieties in all growing regions around the world. For reference swipe to the second image, you’ll notice the coffee on the left is from a cherry that was home to two beans which results in the common sized coffee bean & the right is a peaberry. Peaberry beans are sorted & separated during the post harvest process either by sieve or sophisticated equipment at origin.
